Minutes of a meeting of Hazelwood Parish Council held in the Memorial Hall, Hazelwood on 24th January 2013 commencing at 7.30p.m.

51/12/13 Variation of Order of Business

No variation to Order of Business was deemed necessary.

52/12/13 Declaration of Members Interests

None

53/12/13 Public Participation

Paula attended the first part of the meeting, she informed Council that she is now the only Officer to cover the rural areas in this part of Derbyshire and this covers a huge area, from Lea and Holloway, through Hazelwood and Duffield towards Kirk Langley and Mackworth village.

A notice will be put in the notice board with dates that the mobile police office will be in Hazelwood. Paula said that a burglary had taken place, at Hingleys Wood Yard, of diesel and that farmers should beware.

Glen and Lesley Wall were in attendance for the first part of the meeting and they advised that the bus shelter on Goodwins Lane was being used as a toilet, this had been cleaned but all were made aware to keep an eye on events. Lesley is in the process of undertaking a "Big Tidy Up" in Hazelwood and looking for volunteers to help with litter picking. This would hopefully take place on 16th March. The Parish Council will provide some ‘litter pick-up’ tools and show the Big Tidy Up date on the website.54/12/13 Items for Exclusion

55/12/13 Minutes of the last Meeting

Confirmation of the minutes of the council meeting held on the 22nd November 2012, copies had been passed to the councillors prior to the meeting; they were taken as read, approved and signed by the Chairman for accuracy only.


56/12/13 Adoption of the Code of Conduct

57/12/13 Chairman’s AnnouncementsThe Chairman had been approached by Harry Parker from Shottle and Postern Parish with regard to the width of the A517, Belper to Ashbourne road. He had concerns with the stretch in the Parish just above the farm to the crossroads in Shottlegate. It was apparent that large vehicles had either knocked into the wall or mounted the kerb and he is requesting the support of Hazelwood Parish in an attempt to have the road widened. The Chairman and Vice Chairman will visit the site and take photographs to clarify the situation and to then approach the Highways department.

A provisional offer has been granted from the Big Lottery Fund towards the cost of the fence adjoining the playing field. Quotes have been obtained, therefore it is hoped that this project will be completed in the near future.

The Chairman also requested the clearing of old documents from an old filing cabinet to be restored or destroyed so that space can be made in the ante room.

A welcome leaflet had been produced for new villagers in previous years and a suggestion was made that this be resurrected, initially as an insert with the Parish Magazine, prior to a leaflet being produced.

A reply had been received from Highways regarding our query last year regarding Lumb Lane. The road conditions in the village are not good, especially Hob Hill and Over Lane, yet Highways had resurfaced Lumb Lane which services just 3 properties. It was agreed that the clerk would acknowledge the reply and point out that Hob Hill is a busy road and is in a poor state of repair.

All circulars having been previously circulated were received.

59/12/13 Financial Matters

Present Balances:

Business Reserve £0.02

Memorial Hall £1900.99

Parish Council £464.17


To agree and sign the 2013-2014 Precept. This was agreed without further increase to the Parish.

60/12/13 Memorial Hall

The Chairman informed the meeting that there is a lack of teacups and teaspoons in the hall and proposed that new ones be purchased. It was agreed by all present.

As cheques are in decline, it was also proposed that payments made for the hire of the hall could be paid in direct to the bank through the automated service.

All increases in fees for the use of the hall would take effect on April 1st 2013.
